HYPNOSIS FAQ:

Is hypnosis dangerous?

Hypnosis is a normal state of mind, which most people go in and out of every day. When you are in a guided hypnotic trance, you are in control. It has been studied scientifically that you have an observer self that always looks out for your safety. If a hypnotist just left the room mid session, you would either drift down into sleep for a bit, or come out of trance. You would not and could not remain in a state of hypnosis indefinitely.

Can I be hypnotized?

If you have a desire, and if you are able and willing to follow instructions, you can be hypnotized. For those who think that they are relinquishing control, this is a fallacy. Hypnosis is all about control and the client has the control. It bears repeating that all hypnosis is in fact self-hypnosis. The hypnotist simply acts as the guide to help the client with their stated desires. Clients that are highly focused and driven often make the best clients, as they tend to approach all areas of their life with a clear intent and purpose.

Can Hypnosis make me do something against my will?

Absolutely not. This myth largely stems from the goings on at Hypnosis Stage Shows, or things that we have seen on TV or movies. During a stage show, the hypnotist chooses their subjects carefully, and tests for suggestibility. The next time you are an observer at a Stage Show, watch how the hypnotist selects individuals from the crowd, and observe the suggestibility tests that are given to the subjects. Take particular notice of the number of individuals that are sent back to their seats, and of course the observers that make up the audience. The subjects that remain on stage are not only highly suggestible, but have volunteered (given their permission to be hypnotized) and are on some level, eager to participate in outrageous behaviour. Hypnosis is not capable of making you do anything you are morally or religiously against. If you think through the logic, how could it be but any other way? Wars would be won, crimes would be committed, if hypnosis were able to create a zombie-like race of people obeying instructions mindlessly.
